Third edition of solid waste management course completed in Bolivia

Overview

A third edition of the Sustainable Solid Waste Management course was successfully completed in Bolivia, in partnership with Helvetas, Bolivia. Comprising synchronous virtual sessions and practical field activities, the course strengthened the participating municipalities in good waste management practices.

Experiences were shared locally and from other countries in the region, focusing on sustainable waste management and prevention, extended producer responsibility, recycling, final disposal and environmental education.

The training ran from May to July, and was attended by the municipalities of Camiri, Cuevo, Lagunillas, Tarija (city), San Lorenzo, Coroico and by the Guarani municipality Gaiki Kereimba Iyambe. Professors from the extension of the Gabriel Rene Moreno University of Santa Cruz, Camiri, also participated.

Next steps

We hope to continue strengthening the regional capacities for a more sustainable waste management, and are planning more editions of this course soon.
