Dipti Vaghela: I loved watching NASA’s shuttle launches

An interview with Dipti Vaghela

Dipti Vaghela, the Network Manager of the Hydro Empowerment Network (HPNET), was recently featured in an interview with the Swiss online magazine “Die Wirtschaftsfrau“, where she shared her inspiring journey as an engineer and her current role at HPNET.

In this interview, Dipti mentions restoring ecosystems and enabling healthy lives for all go hand-in-hand. She mentions the glaring income discrepancies she has witnessed in India, and how this has pushed her to take action to improve rural living conditions through the use of technological solutions.

Dipti is committed to advancing technologies that help marginalized communities and restore ecosystems, particularly through community-based hydropower solutions in the Global South. Dipti’s long-term goals include access to clean energy, food security, access to water, climate change adaptation, and greenhouse gas mitigation. These interrelated aspects of rural development can be achieved in an inclusive and equitable way. The Accelerator Social Enterprise for Energy, Ecological, and Economic Development (SEEED) and skat foundation help her achieve these goals.

HPNET’s Secretariat is hosted and run by the skat foundation, and its main purpose is to promote sustainable development through the advancement of sustainable small-scale hydropower (<1 MW) for climate resilient and equitable rural development in marginalized regions of the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa.   “Die Wirtschaftsfrau” is an online magazine that strives to promote transparency and visibility regarding the advancement of women, gender diversity, and age diversity in Switzerland. The magazine’s objective is to position women strongly in companies and encourage diversity in the workforce, with a range of topics covered, including entrepreneurship, leadership, career development, and work-life balance. The magazine aims to inspire and empower women to pursue their goals and dreams, regardless of any obstacles they may face, by showcasing the diversity of women’s achievements and contributions to the economy and society.
