Sufosec at a Glance

An alliance of 6 Swiss NGOs with a shared goal of reducing hunger and malnutrition. Together, we empower local communities and strengthen sustainable food systems through agroecological practices.

About the Alliance

Sufosec – the Swiss Alliance for Sustainable Food Worldwide – brings together six Swiss NGOs with a shared goal: to reduce hunger and malnutrition by strengthening local food systems and communities through agroecological approaches.

Formed in 2020, the alliance combines the experience and expertise of Fastenaktion, SWISSAID, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse, Vivamos Mejor, Aqua Alimenta and Skat Foundation. Together, these organisations support over 450 projects across the global South, working closely with local civil society partners to create lasting change.

By focusing on community-led solutions and promoting sustainable agriculture, Sufosec contributes to achieving the food security goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The alliance is supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and continues to grow, with a new phase of collaboration planned for 2025 to 2028.

Key Publications

Our collaboration with Sufosec has been transformative for our organization and projects. Through their webinars and training, we have expanded our network, empowered over 40 farmers to adopt agroecology, with one earning a Best Farmer award, and promoted critical policies like PSEAH. Additionally, Sufosec has helped us advance gender equality and embrace SMARTechs in agriculture, reinforcing our belief in empowering communities for sustainable food security.

The collaboration with Sufosec has been instrumental in advancing our project goals thanks to access to water and sustainable, innovative agriculture methods. In rural villages, the project has empowered local farmers with training and resources, leading to better crop yields and diversified farming practices. This has not only improved the nutritional intake of the villagers but also provided them with a stable source of income.
