Knowledge networks and learning communities are powerful mechanisms for sharing information and knowledge in the development cooperation setting. Skat Foundation develops, runs, and participates in many successful networks and communities of practice, enabling practitioners, professionals, and other stakeholders to come together to collaborate and learn.
Networks we host
Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN)
A vibrant network of more than 15,000 individual and organisational members committed to improving the access to drinking water in rural areas around the world and to fulfilling the vision of sustainable rural water services for all. Skat Foundation hosts the Secretariat of the RWSN since 1992.
Networks we support
Hydro Empowerment Network (HPNET)
A collective of practitioners committed to the advocacy and advancement of sustainable small-scale hydropower for community empowerment in the Global South. Since 2023 Skat Foundation is hosting the Secretariat of the Hydro Empowerment Network (HPNET) and support them in knowledge development and advocacy initiatives, by providing professional competences on network development as well as on micro/mini hydropower. Networks we participate in
AGUASAN
An interdisciplinary Swiss community of practice that brings together a broad range of specialists to promote wider and deeper understanding of key water and sanitation issues in developing and transitioning countries. Since 1984, AGUASAN has been carrying out yearly international workshops in Switzerland, to foster joint learning and collective reflection on cutting-edge water topics.
Knowledge Management for Development (KM4Dev)
A global community of practice of international development practitioners interested in knowledge management and knowledge sharing theory, practice, and related matters. Since 2000, the KM4Dev community has been promoting discussions, publications, and workshops on knowledge management, to foster knowledge and experience sharing among development practitioners.
Sanitation and Water for All (SWA)
A global multi-stakeholder partnership of governments and their partners from civil society, the private sector, UN agencies, research and learning institutions, development banks and the donor community, for achieving the SDG 6. SWA works by harnessing the collective power of its partners, to support government-led, multi-stakeholder action at national, regional, and global levels.
Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA)
An informal network of people and organisations who share a common vision on sustainable sanitation and who want to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular SDG 6. SuSanA connects members to a community of people with diverse expertise and opinions, serving as a sounding board for innovative ideas.
