Matthias is the Deputy Managing Director and Programme Coordinator of Skat Foundation. He is responsible for steering and overseeing the international programme and leading the thematic programme of water. He is also the RWSN theme leader for Self-Supply.
Matthias is a water specialist with over 20 years of experience in consultancy, research, programme and project management. He specialises in water quality, household water treatment and safe storage, hygiene, water supply, market-based approaches and systems strengthening, in the development cooperation and disaster risk reduction/resilience contexts.
He has extensive experience in WASH in schools and health care facilities projects, water kiosk development, technological innovation and development, market development and product/service design. He also specialises in training and capacity building geared towards the private sector and NGOs, as well as knowledge management and brokerage.
Matthias’ academic background includes an MSc in Environmental Science, an MSc in Environmental Engineering and an MBA in Third Sector and Social Economy.
